erminator (original title: The Terminator; derived from the English verb to terminate "ending") is a science fiction film by director and screenwriter James Cameron from 1984. In it, Arnold Schwarzenegger embodies an android (called Cyborg), the terminator, from the future whose mission is to kill Sarah Connor in the present. The unexpectedly highly successful author film is the first of a series of six cinemas well as a TV series.

The film filmed with a relatively modest budget evolved into one of the most influential science fiction films of the 1980s and a cult film. Despite a very low proportion of text, the film sustainably increased the popularity of the Schwarzenegger standing at the beginning of his actor"s career. His phrase "I"ll be back" was even voted 37 by the American Film Institute in a list of 100 most famous film quotes.
